We pass this on our walk several times a week. Today I decided to shoot the contrast between living and dead. The smaller tree had the bark stripped that killed the tree. Both have stood together for quite a while. I wonder if the park care takers will ever remove the dead one?
It always makes me sad to see dead trees. I remember the first time I went to Yosemite. It was a couple of years after the last big fire and the tree carnage broke my heart. This picture invoked the same feeling. You are right. The contrast is staggering.
