Crack-up

I spent a bunch of time at Squaw Peak Park this morning. I am amazed where plants find a spot to sprout and grow.

Ticked Off

I was amused when I looked at the pictures of this black bird. I realized that the bird looks really ticked off. I am amused that creatures can show such emotions that many believe they can not feel.

Zigzags

Sometimes the most amazing thing is how the subject, the park heron, interacts with the background in an unexpected way.

So Close

I was so close the heron decided to put some space between us. What a wing spread.

The beginning

This is a beginning of a glass bowl that will be created for a demonstration at the Renaissance Fair which ends this weekend. I am happy to say that the pictures turned out as good as I hoped. More to come.

Looking for prints

I am hunting for the print I want to make of the hawk in the park. So far I have several to choose from. This is one of my favorites.

What I should be doing

I had to wait awhile before she would settle down to go to sleep. Now I need to do the same. Good night!

Glass Book

I am super excited. I have taken pictures of the glass blowing demonstration for about 3 years. This year the people doing the demo gave me permission to use the pictures to make a children's picture book on blowing glass. Gooooo Blurb.

Not thinking

Whichever duck laid this egg did not think through the problems of location.

Passed by WHAT?....

On the way to the Renaissance Fair, this passed me on the freeway. I was delighted to find it in the parking lot when I could get my camera out and get the details. WOW.

Back to the Ren Fair

Tomorrow I head back to round two of the Renaissance Fair. I am currently taking many pictures of the glass blower in hopes of creating a picture book. I need signatures to have permission.

Bumps on a log

Do you ever feel like a bump on a log? The zoo pond is filled with turtles that enjoy sunning themselves until about May.

Underwater Birds?

Amazing how the rays seem to fly through the water like a bird in flight. They look so graceful.

Our hawk was back this week cruising the lake. I am so enthralled with the beauty of this bird.

Who?

Captivity allows for a really close view. Beautiful.

Playing

I took my grandson to the park. We had all this wonderful equipment to play on and all he wanted to do was play with the wood chips. He decided he liked the little sticks bunches and bunches and wanted to play a lot longer than grandma. I had a great day.

Pairs

Sometimes it is not the beauty of the subject but the oddity of some artistic aspect, like repetition.

Less than perfect

Sometimes a less than perfect shot has such an interesting feel to it that I keep it. I know I would never sell this to someone else, because on close inspection it shows camera movement. But when I was cleaning up my Flickr account I just couldn't delete it. I whittled my pictures down from over 6000 pictures to about 1200. Now I need to learn how to share them. Using a computer is more frustrating than fixing them. I can't approach the problem with the attitude - I can erase your hard drive.

Beautiful

Most of my photographs are urban nature and family. (I don't post people very much.) The San Diego Temple is a beautiful building that I just didn't want to resist.

Gorgeous Day for...

A Wedding. Well I missed a couple of days traveling to my son's wedding. It was a wonderful day.

Man Power

During the Renaissance the main power was Man Power as demonstrated by these fellows running the ride at the Renaissance Fair.

As High As...

The Renaissance Fair had elephant rides available this year. A low fence and easy access gave me a great opportunity to be eye to eye with the elephant.
