Fountains in the Night

Night shots of fountains produce some interesting images. The glowing yellow is from the reflection of the street lights.

After lunch nap

Napping in the sunshine after lunch and a romp in the pool. That is the life.

Water, Water Everywhere

Phoenix drenched by rain leaves sidewalks covered in water. The ducks get the lake to themselves, since you need web feet to get around the lake.

Otter

Feeding time at the zoo for the otters. They put on a nice show. I hope to work with these pictures to make a book. Should be fun. :)

Passed on walks

We pass this on our walk several times a week. Today I decided to shoot the contrast between living and dead. The smaller tree had the bark stripped that killed the tree. Both have stood together for quite a while. I wonder if the park care takers will ever remove the dead one?

Sunrise and clouds

Hiking early morning at Phoenix Mountains, the clouds create a spectacular sunrise. I can't capture the way the clouds seemed to glow. Incredible morning and feeling great to be alive.

Birds of a Feather

Birds of a feather, flock together took on a lot more meaning one gray morning.

Rain = Flowers

I have listened to the rain for 3 days now, which is down right odd in Phoenix. I am staying hopeful since lots of rain now means a bumper wild flower crop. I love the wild flowers.

Closed eyes

Humans aren't the only ones that close their eyes when their picture is taken.

Decided to pick a day from last year and look through my picture files. I came up with this one. I am always fascinated when I find abstracts in nature. Close enough and things take on a new look.

Princess

Meet Princess. She is a princess at heart. I still wouldn't want to meet her in a dark alley. :)

Streamlined

Amazing how streamlined an otter is, almost looks like a log with eyes.

Osprey is back

Early morning light reflected off of our local osprey. I caught the photo as the hawk sailed just above me in the search for food at the lake.

Otter

Took my daughter and her son to the zoo and found out that the otter is her favorite animal. Fortunately, they were out playing. :)

Close encounters

Thanks to the platform at the zoo it is possible to get up close to the giraffe. I enjoyed taking pictures almost eye to eye.

Two Moons

I can't do this all the time but occasionally when I am shooting pictures of the moon I can get double moons, one bright and the other showing the shadows on the moon. This was shot using a timer and tripod. So strange.

Heron dignity

Looking at my pictures of the heron today I realized how dignified the bird looks. The bird is letting me get a little closer each time.

One Morning

These pictures were taken about every two minutes. The sky changes quickly and only a camera can freeze the frames of time.

Full Moon

Capturing a full moon on a cloudy night poses some interesting problems. Fortunately, I had a tripod that helped steady the camera for a longer shot. Turned out different than I thought. I think I like the picture better than the original view. Interesting.

Clouds

Pulled this from my pictures last May. I am fascinated how light plays in the clouds. Glowing white and dark grays play off each other. Beautiful.

Some I can see why the title fits, others leave me wondering if I missed the point. Sometimes I think the artist's point of view includes information that I don't know. The more I learn the more I understand different pieces of art.

Happy New Year!!!

We purchased a new iMac with a 27 inch screen. I have spent all my time getting it ready for my pictures all 20,000 +. Organizing them should give me a lovely chance to review the year.

Christmas Lights

I love Christmas lights. I took a bunch of pictures and these were my favorites. Hard to see the first one, the lights are projected on to the tree. Looks like fairy lights.
